The Bible teaches that even as “you excel in everything- in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you- see that you also excel in this grace of giving.” 2 Corinthians 8
The word “grace” grabs our attention, because offerings seem more about guilt, duty, and obligation. That’s not the way God designed it. He wants us to give because of the grace He’s already shown. There’s food on the table to be eaten, and a home in heaven to be enjoyed. He also wants us to give, because there’s more grace to be supplied.
Through our offerings, God deepens our faith, moves us to depend on Him, prompts us to pray, and reveals that earthly provision comes from His hand more than from ours. (Read Malachi 3:10, if you don’t believe me.) Simply put, God asks for our offerings not because He wants to get something from us, but because He wants to give something to us.
