We feel the weight…of expectations, of our needs, of the constant need to do, be, prove, and accomplish.
We feel the weight of our failure.
The weight of our inability to be all that we wish we were.
We feel the weight of waiting, longing, hoping, believing and yet feeling deferred, delayed, and dissatisfied.
What if Easter Sunday changes all this?
Jesus took the weight of our sin and our inadequacy.
He lifted the burden that was never ours to bear.
At Easter time, we remember and celebrate that the weight has been lifted: we can live freely and lightly as we WAIT with expectation on Jesus, who has proven himself to be trustworthy and true.
As we remember that while the weight of this world feels too great, “these light and momentary affliction is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,” the glory of Jesus who overcame the weight of sin, death, and the devil. He is risen! We are free indeed!
