Extended Care Program (Daycare)

St. Paul’s Lutheran School offers extended care to any parent who works or is unable, for any reason, to pick up children at the 3:00 PM dismissal time. Our Extended Care Program (Daycare) offers a convenient, affordable and secure environment for their children. The program is in operation each day of school at St. Paul’s Lutheran School according to the published school calendar. Any exceptions to this will be announced. On minimum days parents are asked to call the office if their child needs care from 12:00 noon on.

The program will operate from 7:30-8:00 AM. It will resume from 3:00-5:00 PM. Students arriving at school before 7:30 AM will not be allowed on the grounds. Parents must pick up students no later than 5:00 PM. If students are not picked up on time, parents must pay a $50 fee for the first five minutes and $1 per minute starting at 5:05. Checks may be made out to St. Paul’s Lutheran School. This is to ensure prompt pick up of children and to assure that the supervisor will be able to leave at 5:00 PM.

Only students enrolled in St. Paul’s Lutheran School, Grades K-8, will be allowed to participate. Parents are welcome to use the program for their convenience on a drop in-basis at an hourly rate.  Discount tickets, which can be purchased in advance from the school office, are also available in various amounts at a reduced hourly rate. A bill is issued for any amount due.

Parents, guardians or designated persons must personally pick up and sign out students before 5:00 PM each day. All students who remain at school after school dismisses but are not involved in a teacher supervised after school activity will be required to sign into daycare and their parents will be expected to pay for the care. Parents involved in after-school activities must keep their children with them, check them into daycare or leave them at home. After school is dismissed, the playground area is utilized by the daycare. Any children playing there are then considered in daycare.

While your child is in daycare, he/she will be required to follow daycare rules. The principal will assist the supervisor to remedy any discipline problems. Students will have a snack followed by 20-30 minutes to work on homework. Daycare will consist of free play, as at this point in their very structured day, they need to take a break from the classroom routine. Board games, paper, markers, paints, etc. are always provided for those who prefer to play indoors. In case of an emergency, the supervisor will follow the regular day school procedures, using the student’s emergency information form to contact the responsible adult.

After school enrichment classes are offered through outside programs.  They are held at St. Paul’s, but payments must be made to the company facilitating the program.  They may include sports, chess, dance, Mad Science, 3D Printing Club, etc.  Students do not change out of uniforms for these activities.  Parents may pick up students after the class or let the Daycare Director know that they will be signed into Daycare for the remainder of their time on campus.
